Sani Emmanuel Nets Hat-Trick In Flying Eagles Warm Up Match
Nigeria’s under 20 football team, the Flying Eagles stepped up their preparation for the Under-20 World Cup with a 7-0 bashing of Aberdeen U19 on Monday morning.
Striker, Sani Emmanuel starred as he hit a second half hat-trick to condemn the youth team of the Scottish Premier League (SPL) side to a heavy defeat.
Strangely, the first 25 minutes of the game of the game were tight with goal scoring opportunities at a premium.
Edafe Egbedi broke down the resistance of the SPL with a smart finish in the 26th minute. Enugu Rangers forward, Uche Nwofor made it 2-0 before the break.
Nigeria’s coach, John Obuh made six changes in the second period as the Flying Eagles went on to score five more to complete a good day in the office.
Dolphins midfielder, Omo Ojabu (two goals) was the other Nigerian to register his name on the score sheet.
“Aberdeen gave us a good match. The first half was more tactical and technical, but late in the second half they tired out and this allowed us to score more goals,” remarked assistant coach, Samuel Abimbola. The Nigeria team will now meet Portugal on Wednesday in Lisbon in continuation of their build-up to the under 20 World Cup in Colombia.
They are drawn against Croatia, Saudi Arabia and Guatemala in the first round of Colombia 2011.
